
WHAT IS BULLYING?
A lot of young people have a good idea of what bullying is because they see it every day! Bullying happens when someone hurts or scares another person on purpose and the person being bullied has a hard time defending himself or herself. Usually, bullying happens over and over. Bullying also can happen on-line or electronically. cyber bullying is when children or teens bully each other using the Internet, mobile phones or other cyber technology. This can include:
And now there is a local group looking to help children victimized by bullying.
CBS4 supports the Quad City Collaborative for a Bully-Free Community, which is a community group working towards the goal of creating a bully-free community.
For nearly a year, the organization: Quad Citians Affirming Diversity (QCAD) has brought together a group of community stakeholders from both sides of the river. The purpose of the Collaborative is to increase public awareness through education about bullying behavior and implement strategies to create a safe, bully-free community. To achieve this goal, the Collaborative is coordinating a community-wide media campaign, providing support for educational initiatives and programs, host informational meetings and assist with referrals and resources.
