After looking at tonight's data I'm lowering the snow forecast for the Quad Cities slightly. Quite honestly I don't like to change the forecast right before a storm arrives but I can't just ignore what I've seen so far this evening. It will still be a decent snow in the metro area, but instead of 5-7 inches it's now looking more like 4-6" and I wouldn't be too surprised if we end up toward the lower end of the range! Heavier totals are still on for areas South of the Quad cities, where there's already been 2 or 3 inches of snow today. As of right now the Winter Storm Warning continues until 6pm Saturday...
The National Weather Service has upgraded the Quad Cities to a Winter Storm Warning for Friday night and Saturday. The warning lasts until 6pm Saturday evening and has been issued for heavy snow totals. Most of the metro area will see 5-7 inches of snow, with some higher amounts in places SE of the Quad Cities. The heavy snow should start around midnight for a lot of us and the worst will be over with by Noon on Saturday. Winds won't be too strong while it's snowing Saturday but could pick up a bit Saturday evening as temperatures start to drop.
A large portion of the Midwest is under Winter Storm Warnings/Winter Weather Advisories and travel within 200 miles of the Quad Cities in any direction will be dangerous on Saturday...
