From well below zero to above freezing. We're expecting a big change in weather the rest of this week, and that can mean more water main breaks.
Officials with 'Iowa American Water' say the change in temperatures can cause a shift in the ground and the pipes, making breaks more likely.
So far in 2014, we've already seen 14 water main breaks on the Iowa side of the Quad Cities. crews are preparing for even more this week.
"We're off and running this year and the guys are used to it. They know what they're doing they do it well. Our big concern is always that they're safe out there, they dress the way they need to," Iowa American Water External Affairs Manager Lisa Reisen.
Iowa American Water officials also ask that you slow down and follow road signs where there is a break.
