Monday afternoon some kids kicked off Christmas break with a little sledding.
"I love the hill it's very steep and it's fun going down here, to hear the wind whooshing by your ear it's very very fun," said sledder Emily Dunbar.
Davenport Parks and Recreation workers have been preparing for the sledding season. The hill at the Duck Creek Golf Course opened Monday.
Kids say the cold wasn't so bad if you bundled up.
"Jeans under, we have snow pants we've got big jackets and a jacket under, a hat on, another hood, a neck piece and I got gloves," said Dunbar.
The hill behind the Putnam Museum is also open for the season.
