A local 5K race is doing more than keeping people in shape.
The Mud and Obstacle Extreme Survival Run back on September 7th helped raise $10,000 for the organization Braking Traffik. Braking Traffic is a group that's working to expose and stop sex trafficking here in the Quad Cities Area. Organizations leaders said the grant will go along way to help their mission.
"last year we implemented traffic jam into 6 pilot schools here in the Quad Cities both middle and high school and based on feedback from school faculty administration and the students themselves. We are working this year to enrich the program and to package it for wider distribution," said Cathy O'Keefe, Executive Director of Braking Traffik.
