What's in the cards for a new land–based casino in Davenport?
Monday could be a big step for developer Dan Kehl and his plans for the casino.
The RDA will meet this afternoon to vote on a development agreement with Kehl's Scott County Casino LLC, moving ahead despite a new developer in the mix.
Kehl plans to build a $110 million hotel and casino off of I–80. That's been in the works for months.
Now the RDA is ready to move forward even though the city is pumping the breaks.
Last week the city tabled a decision on their development agreement with Kehl thanks to a proposal from local developer Rodney Blackwell and Clairvest group. Their plan includes a $250 million casino resort along the I–80 I–74 corridor.
This weekend Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba sent letters pleading with RDA members to reconsider their choice.
But RDA leaders tell us Kehl already has an exclusive agreement with the Isle of Capri, and there's no turning back.
"When we see if Dan Kehl and the Isle can complete the sale as agreed to, between the 2 parties, on or before October 15th. If they complete the sale it's a done deal," said RDA member Gary Mohr.
We'll tell you what the RDA decides this afternoon on CBS 4 News at 5 and 6. Kehl also still needs the approval of Iowa's Racing and Gaming Commission.
