It sat empty in Coal Valley since 2009.
Now Rock Island County leaders are planning to sell the old water tower on the old oak glen nursing home property.
the Oak Glen nursing home was shut down in 2009 and replaced by Hope Creek Care center in East Moline… leaving the water tower on the old property with no use.
The administrator of the Hope Creek Care Center wants to sell it to a small village to bring in money for the center and the county.
"Just to bring in additional revenue as an additional revenue source, rather than watch it deteriorate and not be usable someday, why not use the resources that are there," says Trudy Whittington, Administrator, Hope Creek Care Center.
They hope to have the water tower up for sale in October.
