It's been up for debate for months; who will build Davenport's new land-based casino and where?
Tonight Davenport City Council could vote on a non–exclusive development agreement with Dan Kehl's Scott County Casino LLC, or they could table it, thanks to a new player rolling the dice.
Kehl plans to invest $110 million into a brand new casino designed to be the gem of Davenport. Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba says the only thing is Kehl hasn't nailed down a location, just somewhere off of I–80.
While Scott County Casino LLC was recommended by the Riverboat Development Authority and has worked with the city for 2 months, this weekend another pitch threw a wrench in the plans. C
lairvest Incorporated partnering with local developer Rodney Blackwell announced that they're throwing their cards on the table with a big proposal.
Mayor Gluba tells us he thinks city leaders should take their time, and take a hard look at both proposals.
"I'm anxious to see something get done but you know this is a big deal. You're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. You have to do and exercise due diligence. I'd rather do it right than hurry it," said Mayor Gluba.
Davenport City Council will discuss both proposals at their meeting tonight at 5:30 at City Hall.
