It's time for folks in Bettendorf to vote on a tax levy.
It's called the physical plant and equipment levy and it's been in place since 1975. But the levy expires next June. So folks need to vote on the one dollar and thirty four cent property tax levy to go towards improving the school. The tax would make up 1.9 million dollars that would go towards technology, building improvements, and cameras.
"I feel the 1.9 million a year for the next 10 years are crucial for the facilities. It will help educate children and our staff, make it a great learning environment for all," says Amy Swearingen, a Bettendorf resident.
The superintendent says losing that money would be a tragic loss for the district and students.
