There were multiple reports of slashed tires along a stretch of 15th Street A. in Moline early Wednesday morning. The slashings left many residents in the area frustrated.
"I was just drinking coffee, handing out, and then my friend texted me a pictures, apparently that was on Facebook, and I was like 'uh, that's my car!'" Like Mary Francis, several people between the 1300 and 1500 blocks of 15th Street A. woke up Wednesday morning to their drivers' side tires, slashed.
Moline Police say there were 14 incidences reported between 1:30 and 4 o'clock Wednesday morning.
Andrew Llaca and his father had to skip work and spent the afternoon replacing the tires on their trucks. Llaca says a noise outside actually woke him up in the middle of the night. "I was asleep last night, and I thought I heard something, but when I opened up my windows, I didn't see anything so I didn't think anything of it."
Residents were surprised something like this happened in their neighborhood. "It's generally pretty quiet. I mean, we haven't had any problems before, so I think everybody's just frustrated," says resident Stephanie Patrick.
"I don't know who would slash a whole street worth of tires," says Francis.
