A long vacant building in Bettendorf is getting new life.
Bettendorf welcomes Colohub.
Since 2005, the building off devils glen road has been empty. What once housed an Eagle's grocery store is now a data center storage facility. Companies can store their critical data information inside Colohub. The building holds 8 megawatts of power and with that amount they're able to run 15,000 homes. The CEO says he is happy to put Bettendorf on the map when it comes to technology.
"We believe this area is prime for high technology type jobs and we're pleased to be able to offer those types of jobs here, not only for ourselves, but for our clients will bring in jobs as well," says Scott Rubins, President/CEO.
Colohub is the only datacenter in the area. The next closest one is all the way in Chicago.
