It was Iowa versus Illinois as people from both sides tugged for bragging rights.
"For a change it's really, really nice. We've lost for years and years and now it's down to we've got it back and we're happy now," said Dan Drach, on the Iowa side.
Iowa took home the win from LeClaire, beating Illinois competing from Port Byron in the long tug of war game across the Mississippi River.
The game lasted over two hours, with both sides hosting multiple teams to take their turn at tugging.
Losing team Port Byron, however, was not to be put down by the loss.
"That's what competitions all about. People watch it because they never know how it's going to end. Iowa's been bringing some heavy competition," said Irvin Foltz from the Illinois side.
That rope they use is 28 hundred feet long and 700 pounds.
