Illinois governor Pat Quinn hopes to improve educational opportunities for veterans.
Quinn made a stop in the Quad Cities today to sign two new laws
The governor stopping this afternoon at Hero Street in Silvis. The new laws extend National Guard tuition waivers and allow students using their G.I. bill of rights benefits to be billed for tuition as in state students.
Quinn says it's all part of his agenda to serve those who have served our country
"That means education, using your GI bill of rights, your Illinois veterans grant. We want our veterans to get the best education possible cause many of them postpone their education to serve our country," says Governor Pat Quinn, (D) Illinois.
Today's actions also allow students using their post 9/11 GI bill benefits to be billed as in state students for the purpose of tuition.
