The Quad Cities got a major makeover thanks to the Xstream Cleanup crew.
From trash in the park to tires dumped in the river, more than 45 thousand pounds of debris picked up by over 1600 volunteers all over the quad cities.
The goal is to get everything out of the waterways to keep the water flowing and assure better quality. There were 300 volunteers in Rock Island alone. Volunteers say the cleanup is quite a sight.
"The problem is we probably should be taking before and after pictures, but everybody is so busy doing the work that no one has time to take those kinds of pictures. I think at least I never been able to. It's very rewarding. It's wonderful," says Carolyn Fuller, Exec Director, Keep RI Beautiful.
Volunteers say each year the number of people helping out gets bigger and bigger.
