Some quick work by Davenport police officers this morning may have solved two recent bank robberies.
Officers were called to the Du Trac Community Credit Union at 3100 West Kimberly Road just before nine Friday. Employees of the credit union were able to supply police with a description of the man who had robbed them and the car he was driving.
A few minutes later Davenport Officer Mike Martin spotted the car approaching the Centennial Bridge and called for help from the Rock Island Police Department.
The officers stopped the car near the base of the bridge in Rock Island and took the driver, Duane Maulding, into custody. Maulding was later interviewed by Davenport Police and the FBI.
The suspect's apartment was also searched and officers say they found evidence that links Maulding to the robbery of the Ascentra Credit Union on July 2nd.
Maulding is being held on a parole violation while he waits on a Grand Jury hearing on today's robbery.
