Kids turned trash into treasure at the Quad City Botanical Center today.
Old and used materials were repurposed into usable items. Organizers at the botanical center say they want to teach kids at a young age to be environmentally friendly and recycle. They also want to show kids what's old can be new again.
"It's kind of fun for the kids to see what they can do with really normal seemingly moving objects and kind of creating something pretty and usable," says Ellen Loechner, education coordinator.
Kids made planters out of soda bottles, reusable bags out of shirts, and little bugs out of egg cartons.
