The Million Dollar Marathon is going on this week across the country. But Friday, the runners reached the Quad Cities Area, on their cross country trip to fight cancer.
"It's not just about the run but about the money that we're raising and the awareness for cancer research and all that goes along with that."
Barbara Clapp White is running from Muscatine to Galesburg.
She says the heat is the hardest part. But she's proud to be running for everyone she knows who has lost their battle with cancer.
Saturday, a new group will take the baton in Galesburg, including one Bettendorf woman. Emily Morse, says this organization is doing wonderful things and she's proud to be a part of it.
"I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't been affected by cancer in one way or another. Life is full of hurtles whether it's cancer or something else and coming together for things like this is just something that makes life great and unites us for a common cause."
