Authorities said a Whiteside county boy is doing well in a Chicago hospital after being buried alive in Indiana yesterday.
6-year-old Nathan spent more than 3 hours buried under 11 feet of sand.
He was swallowed by a massive dune in Michigan City.
The family said the boy's outlook is very good, even though he's in critical condition.
Nathan's grandfather is a pastor at a Galva, Illinois church.
Family, friends, and congregation members gathered Sunday, praying for the little boy's recovery.
"Help for the family, we're asking for healing for this little boy and for his brothers and sister who happened to witness this terrible thing, and we're also asking for wisdom for the doctors and the specialists," said Rebekah Montgomery, associate pastor at First Baptist Church.
A collection was also taken at the vigil to help with Nathan's medical expenses.
