Some residents in Coal Valley, IL are being evacuated after 6 gas leaks in just over 4 hours.
The first was reported just before 5 p.m. Tuesday evening at Headquarters Bar and Grill on 22nd Ave. The owner of the restaurant was the only one inside at the time, and was not hurt.
A nearby house was also evacuated around the same time for separate gas leak. The family living there was checked out by first responders. Officials say there was enough gas in both of the buildings to blow up if there had been a spark.
The third gas leak was reported in the 500 block of 21st Ave around 6:30 p.m.
Crews are on the scene of three more gas leaks in the area around 19th Ave. and are getting residents out of their homes.
MidAmerican Energy is on scene trying to figure out what's going on.
