A local non-profit now has federal recognition.
Casa Guanajuato Quad Cities has received accreditation from the department of justice board of immigration appeals.
"It allows opportunity for more of our families to be able to come in here and get low–cost services, yet still high–quality representation," said Michael Woods of Casa Guanajuato Quad Cities.
The new recognition means, among other things, some Casa Guanajuato Quad Cities staff can represent people in front of immigration agents.
