The Silvis Police Department is suiting up with some new high tech gear.
Officers are sporting new transformer body armor, the first of its kind in the Quad Cities.
Officers say the new cover is lighter, sleeker and more comfortable.
The Silvis Police Chief says when you have officers wearing the gear for at least 8 hours a day, and sometimes in scorching weather - it needs to be practical and protective.
"We want our officers to be prepared and be as safe as they can be, and as comfortable as they can be and as safe as they can be and we think this armor provided that," says William Brasche, Police Chief.
The Chief says the old armor was replaced after the five year warranty was up earlier this year.
