Cyclists will take over the streets of Rock Island on Memorial Day for the 48th Annual Quad Cities Criterium.
14 criterium bicycle races and 8 children's races will take place today in downtown Rock Island. Races start at 8:00am and finish at 6:00pm.
This event brings in more than 650 cyclists of all ages from all over the world to the area.
The Quad Cities Criterium is one of six events that are a part of the 2013 Nature Valley Pro Ride.. These qualifying races help the top amateur cyclists earn a trip to compete against the country's top professional bicycle racers.
Drivers heading through Rock Island on Monday should also watch out.
Areas around 1st through 4th Avenues and 17 through 19th Streets are closed off for the races.
