Cities in Rock Island County are partnering up to attract new developments.
Monday night, East Moline City Council approved expanding the 'Illinois Quad City Enterprise Zone'.
It would provide benefits to developers who invest in blighted areas in Moline, East Moline, Silvis and Milan.
Moline has already approved the plan. Silvis and Milan vote later this week.
Program benefits include, waiving sales tax on building materials, and waiving building permit fees.
"We'll be seeing increased investment activity and job creation and that helps grow the tax base," said Patrick Burke, Moline Economic Development Director.
If passed by all participating cities, it then goes to the state, that has up to 3 months to approve the expansion.
