Girl Scouts may still have a getaway to spend their summers under the stars.
Today, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and western Illinois announced instead of closing all four campgrounds, camp Conestoga in New Liberty, Iowa would stay open full time, and the others would be open, but on a part time basis.
This after, a hearing was held Wednesday in a Scott County courtroom, and a temporary injunction filed by a group of volunteer parents hoping to stop the camps from closing.
Girl Scout leaders say having only one full time camp could cut their spending in half.
"We will be able to divest some of the land that we're not using plus when you have one central resident camp we'll be able to save on some operating costs as well," says Diane Nelson, Girl Scouts.
The board of directors will vote on the new recommendation April 11th.
