Man accused of picking up toddler by the neck

A Davenport man is charged with child abuse with injuries and domestic abuse after police say he picked up a toddler by the neck and threw him.

Michael Martin was arrested Tuesday morning at an apartment in the 5400 block of Appomattox Road.

Police reports say Martin picked up the child by the neck and threw him onto a bed, causing scratches to the boy's head and neck. Martin then allegedly threatened to beat the boy's mother.

Martin is currently in the Scott County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
