It's hard to believe, but summer is right around the corner.
To make sure your child has a chance to participate in summer sports, Community Action of Eastern Iowa and Davenport Parks and Recreation are teaming up to provide scholarships. Vouchers will be given to low income families so they can sign their kids up for various activities: including theater, dance, and athletics.
"Parents have the opportunity to really target what their child is interested in and make their summer experience even more exciting. I think there's a lot of kids who wouldn't have the ability to access this and hopefully this will give them that chance," said Daniel Sheridan, Davenport Parks & Rec.
Parents must apply in person for a voucher at the Community Action of Eastern Iowa. That's on 59th Street in Davenport, and then take it to the River's Edge Downtown to get their kids signed up for an activity.
