A bill was passed in a senate committee to increase the maximum tax credit from $600 to $1,500 per qualified offender. It would also make any felon eligible, as long as the person has not been convicted of sex crimes. Supporters said the move would help Illinois growing unemployment problem, which is at 9% right now.
