Tonight
you have a chance to learn more about possible changes coming to Rock Island County's
aging administrative building and courthouse.
County
leaders are trying to educate the public about an upcoming ballot question.
The
question could grant more power to the county building commission, which in
turn, would become the decision makers behind restoring or building new county
offices.
Committee
members say because of the Illinois Constitution, they need this vote to pass for any action to be done on the
aging buildings.
"We
want people to realize this is our opportunity to take care of an important
cornerstone in our community," said Co-Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee Kim
Callaway-Thompson.
There
is a public meeting this afternoon at 2:00pm at the Martin
Luther King
Jr Center
in Rock Island.
Anyone
is welcome to get their questions answered.
That referendum
vote will take place April 9th.
