Things got a little "ruff" at the East Moline fire station today. More than 300 pets were given rabies shots and other vaccinations as part of a county-wide low-cost clinic effort.
Experts say it can cost you $200 if your pet nips someone without having the proper vaccinations. There was also more than 100 cats and dogs micro chipped as well.
Organizers say if your pet does get lost, having a microchip makes all the difference in the world in bringing them home.
"It's state law that every animal control officer scan the dogs and cats they pick up and it makes it 100% easier to get pets back to their owners right away," says Liz Clark, community service officer.
Organizers say they plan to hold more of these low-cost clinics throughout the year.
