The state of Illinois could soon be cutting even further into school budgets.
A bi-partisan bill to address Illinois' nearly 100 million dollar pension crisis passed through house committee Thursday.
It requires more employee contributions and floats the issue of shifting pension costs to local school districts, requiring them to pick up pension costs for future employee.
Lawmakers say their plan would reduce the state retirement systems' debt by 30 percent.
