Teenager shot at a house party in Galesburg

An 18 year old is shot to death at a late night party in Galesburg.

Galesburg Police say it happened early this morning at a house party.

They say a 20 year old who lived there took out his gun and shot someone.

"There was a party over there. They were doing some drinking a gun was brought out," says Capt. Rodney Riggs, Galesburg Police Department.

Cody Delacruz is being charged with involuntary manslaughter.

He was hosting the party at his home in this house in the 400 block of Olive street.

Knox county officials say Delacruz was showing off his Russian rifle when the shots were fired.

18 year old Isaiah Stevenson was shot and later died at a local hospital.

Friends of Delacruz described him as a gun enthusiast

"It was brought out to display, there was no fighting going on or anything like that the gun was loaded unfortunately it went off and shot the victim," says Riggs.

Officials say Delacruz and others at the party had been drinking.
