The Moline School Board approved a motion to take legal steps to stop Elliott Aviation from being exempt from property taxes.
"Elliott Aviation has been granted a permanent exemption from paying taxes which next year will result in approximately $150,000 dollars of income that the district will not see," said Superintendent Dr. Moyer.
During Monday Night's school board meeting, members said they
believe the tax exemption is unconstitutional. They voted to take all necessary steps advised by their
attorneys to pursue legal action. The superintendent said any money spent on legal fees will
not come from the education fund.
