It's a high school tradition; the senior boys do a dance, but some parents say this time, it went too far. An Iowa boys dance team routine has caused quite a reaction.

The video is causing quite a stir.  It's what one student and his mother say happened last Friday at an assembly at Burlington High School.

Some people found the performance offensive, some didn't.

Ollie Hootman's son is a senior at the school, she says it's unacceptable.

"They're teaching our boys that they're not going to be good for anything but strip dancing I'm like ugh you're supposed to be teaching our boys not strip dancing."

And Principal Messinger agrees. He said in a statement that the boys quote "suggestive movements were offensive and inappropriate." he added that the dance was not what the administration expected and the situation is being investigated.

But Hootman doesn't think that's enough.

"I feel that the principal should be held responsible, he was there he allowed it, he could have stopped it right when the music started and said hey this is not acceptable."

Either way, some high schoolers say the grown ups just don't see the humor in it.

"I thought it was funny they didn't mean anything by it they was just having fun."

He adds that if parents and teachers think it's something high schoolers have never seen before....think again.

"We see all this stuff at dances, I mean they're not like they were when we were little just dancing side to side, now it's just all grinding on each other so it's not much different."

Meanwhile, if you'd like to check it out for yourself, video of the full performance is posted on our facebook page.
