Before he leaves for a new assignment in Iraq, Lieutenant General Mick Bednarek talks about his time as First Army's Commanding General.
Bednarek has been nominated to the Chief Office of Security Cooperation in Baghdad.
Before he hands over command on Thursday, the three star general hosted a round table discussion at the Rock Island Arsenal Monday.
He says the success of the First Army can be directly linked to the relationships between them, the Arsenal, and the Quad Cities.
When asked about federal budget cuts and proposed furloughs, he said they are a possibility.
"As you look to the future of what the Arsenal brings to the Department of Defense and specifically to our Army, it's pretty formidable," Bednarek said.
Lieutenant General Bednarek sat down with CBS4 Anchor Steve Long for a one-on-one interview. You can catch more on his time in the Quad Citites and what he loved about the area in a special edition of "Rock Island Arsenal: Inside The Gates" Thursday March 14th during Ten at 10 on CBS4.
