Recent Employment Gains Jeopardized by Sequestration

WASHINGTON, March 8, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Employment increased by 236,000 in February, and the national unemployment rate edged down to 7.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment in the construction industry improved by 48,000 last month, bringing total industry gains to 151,000 since September.

"Today's jobs report shows the lowest U.S. unemployment rate in 5 years with gains occurring in a wide variety of industries. Construction is starting to show signs of recovery but is still facing a 15.7 percent unemployment rate – more than twice the national average.
