UPDATE:

Macomb police want to know who made a prank phone call Wednesday night that used up resources and frightened area residents.

Chief Curt Baker said during the last briefing that following an investigation, police have concluded the 911 call for 509 W. Murray St. was a prank phone call.

After repeated phone calls and knocks at the door, the Illinois State Police Tactical Response team sent a robot into the home, and it was discovered that no one was present in the residence.

The tenants at the residence were not responsible for the phone call.

Police are investigating the incident and are working to locate the owner of the phone from which the 911 call originated.

Murray Street has been reopened and nearby residents have been allowed to return to their homes.

Macomb police will release further information when the investigation concludes.
