Students at Saint Ambrose University are celebrating Lent a little differently this year.

They are taking part in a "Fast Fest" this Lenten season. Students came up with ideas on what to fast during different weeks of Lent.

So far students gave up social media and flavored beverages for a week. And this week students are fasting from violent video games.

Students we spoke to say it allows them an opportunity to pause and reflect.

"It's interesting to take a lot of different parts of your life and be able to fast from them," Bradley Grothus, a freshman at Saint Ambrose, said. "Throughout all of these different fastings, hopefully you grow closer to God and grow closer to a lot of things in your life."

For their final week, the students will give up one full meal per day.
