Today Dixon teachers and the school board will be back at negotiations.

The teachers have been working without a contract since August and have been on strike since last Thursday.

The strike continues after another unsuccessful meeting yesterday.

Parents and students we talked to are ready for the strike to be over and to get kids back in school.

"You know both sides are probably anxious and nervous to get this to a resolution," said teacher Dolph Ricks, spokesman for the Dixon Education Association.

The two sides still disagree on salary, health insurance, and retirement benefits.

On Monday students even showed up with picket signs to support the teachers.

Despite the snow yesterday they met, but after 5 and a half hours, they couldn't reach a deal.

"I'm a pretty positive person, so I'm always hopeful," said Dixon School District Superintendent Michael Juenger.

If your kids go to a Dixon school, there is still child care offered. To learn more and register go to our popular links.

The two sides meet again today at 1:00.  There also will be an informational parents meeting with Q and A at 6:00PM at the Elk's Lodge.
