The Transportation Security Administration announced Tuesday that small knives would be allowed again on airline flights. The new relaxed restrictions will begin on April 25th.
Only certain knives will be allowed. Knives that do not lock, that are no longer than 2.36 inches or more than half an inch wide will be allowed to be carried on board.
TSA says the new restrictions will allow Security Officers to better focus on "finding higher threat items such as explosives."
Passengers will not be allowed to carry on knives longer than 2.36 inches, wider than half an inch, have a locking or fixed blade, or a molded grip.
Razor blades and box cutters are also still prohibited.
In addition to small knives, flyers can now take sporting goods such as golf clubs, pool cues, hockey sticks, and small baseball bats on aircraft.
