A former Muscatine doctor, accused of prescribing drugs in exchange for sex, has struck a plea deal. David Gierlus, 59, pleaded guilty Monday to being sexually involved with a patient and prescribing her hydrocode numerous times. Gierlus was previously charged with supplying dozens of women with powerful drugs. He faces up to ten years in prison.
