Not guilty. That's the verdict handed down to a former Davenport alderman charged with assault.

The verdict ends a weeklong trial for Keith Meyer, the 71-year-old represented himself.

He was charged back in November with threatening his neighbor with a shotgun. Meyer says he only grabbed the gun in self defense.

Meyer was a Davenport alderman for 2 terms. He lost his reelection bid in 2007.
