Bettendorf city leaders will sit down tonight to break down the budget and share the plans with you.

Tonight the city will hold a public meeting to discuss the 2013-2014 budget.

In the next few years the city plans to work on the streets and sewers, continue construction on Tanglefoot Lane, and re–do the Utica Road Bridge.

The city also will set aside money to help relocate businesses affected by the I–74 bridge project.

Several businesses will need to move for the new I–74 bridge and State and Grant Streets realignment.

We spoke with the Bettendorf mayor who tells us the state is also throwing a couple obstacles their way.

Pensions for city employees are on the rise, and the state plans to lower commercial property taxes.

The mayor also tells us dealing with these issues and funding all these projects can pose a challenge, but they don't plan to raise property taxes.

However, he says they will have to cut back on spending, and every department within the city will have to make budget cuts and hold back on hiring.

To learn more about these projects and the possible cuts there is a public meeting tonight at 6:30 at city hall.
