A Davenport organization is close to meeting their financial goal.
The German American Heritage Center is trying to raise $180 thousand to qualify for two grants.
The money will help them pay off debts and have long term stability.
So far they've raised around $100 thousand.
Staff said the center is important because so many people in the area have German ancestry.
"And we just want to preserve that and remind people about that and help them learn about their roots, their ancestry, their connections," said Kelly Lao of the German American Heritage Center.
