The Iowa Department of Transportation has issued a travel advisory on Thursday in
anticipation of the winter storm.
Heavy snow is predicted across the state of Iowa Thursday from late morning through
the evening, affecting rush hour traffic.
Significant snow and gusting winds could limit visibility when behind the
wheel.
The Iowa DOT advises drivers pack a winter survival kit or emergency
supplies in their vehicles.
They also recommend taking a cell phone for emergency
uses, but not to talk or text while driving.
