Former Dixon Comptroller Rita Crundwell's lawyer is asking that the state charges against her be dropped.

Her attorney filed that motion Wednesday.

But Dixon Mayor Jim Burke says he and the city council are in favor of the state going forward with the charges.

Crundwell was sentenced last week to more than 19 years in federal prison for embezzling $53 million from the city over two decades. But she's pleaded not guilty to 60 counts of felony theft in Lee County.

If convicted, those sentences would run concurrent to the federal sentence.
