The Iowa House has approved a scaled back version of Gov. Terry Branstad's education reform plan.
The House bill calls for a smaller salary increase for teachers, than what Governor Branstad proposed.
And would also allow schools to opt out of paying minimum salary hikes and leadership bonuses, contrary to what Branstad had proposed.
The house also approved a 2 percent increase in funding for the next two school years.
