A new Super Wal-Mart is moving into town, so Rock Island City leaders are making way for it.
Monday night they voted to spend almost two million dollars to help Blackhawk College relocate their facility from Watchtower Plaza to a vacant lot near 11th Street and Blackhawks Road.
The city will build a brand new facility that will also house a State Farm Insurance office and three other stores.
Mayor Dennis Pauley said it's just one way they're trying to help businesses in the path of the new retailer.
"It's definitely exciting because we're reinventing the whole area not just the Wal–Mart area but now behind City Limits and there other businesses that are talking about either upgrading or putting something new in this facility too," Rock Island Mayor Dennis Pauley said.
City leaders said construction on the new Blackhawk College building starts in March.
