Moline High speech team takes home top honors

Moline High School's Encore! group lived up to its name, taking home a first place win at the state finals for the second year in a row.

The combination acting troupe and speech team performed at the Illinois High School Association State Finals in Peoria over the weekend.

Their performance, "The Starcatcher" was named the best "Speech Performance in the Round" at the competition.

Cast members include: Alejandro Raya, Christian Frieden, Clare Van Echaute, Jennie White, JJ Schrick, Josef Pautsch, Matthew Hayes, Micah SantAmor Bernas, Peter Condit, Sadie Buckles, and Taylor Romeo.

The award winning team will be performing this Friday at the MHS cafeteria at 7:30 P.M.  The high school's "Dessert Theatre" will also showcase other acts--both sectional and state performers.
