Birthday give back

It was all about giving back for one QC girl. Instead of having a regular 10th birthday party, Mercedes Mitchell says she wanted to take care of those furry friends in need.

So she gathered up all her friends and held a party at the Rock Island County Animal Shelter.

And instead of gifts, Mercedes says give it to shelter.  

"It's just all going to the dogs and cats and all the other animals and not to me, but the animals," says Mercedes Mitchell.

Mercedes says she got the idea from her big sister, and is glad to see the money go toward helping feed and care for all the animals.
