For one Quad City Red Cross volunteer, helping out with disasters around the country, is a humbling experience.
Cindie Waters flew out of the Quad Cities today for Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Earlier this week a tornado tore through the town, even hitting the Red Cross office there.
Waters says the experience puts everything in perspective.
"When you go out there and you see these areas where these people are so devastated and they don't have anything," Waters said. "You certainly feel good about it, and when you come home, you appreciate everything you have."
She says you can make a difference without getting on a flight, just by donating to the Red Cross.
